It's been about 4 1/2 years since we did our last candle. I loved them and so did our customers, but for some reason, I just hadn't gotten around to releasing another one. That all changed last fall when we started working with Houston Grand Opera on this season (check out our clutch collection!). It was a great opportunity to create a brand new, custom scent just for them.
As soon as we decided to do it, I knew exactly what it had to look like. For some reason, the Marx Brothers' classic film A Night at the Opera came to mind, and I wanted the name/logo to have a vintage, cinematic vibe.
I mean, if that doesn't make you think of trimming candle wicks then, I don't know what would.
Next came the scent. It had to be a perfect balance of masculine and feminine notes with a touch of drama. We tried a myriad of combinations, but ultimately, a blend of sandalwood, tuberose, rosemary, and lavender won. The scent is rich, but not overpowering, with just enough woodsy scent to keep it from being overly floral. I LOVE it!
Each limited edition, 14 oz. candle is handmade in the US using soy wax and a wood wick that makes a slight crackling sound when burned. They will last for a minimum of 100 hours too! The matte black glass vessel and matching wax are the perfect "foil" to the gold lettering on the candle and matching gift box.
These candles make a perfect gift because not only are they elegant and smell wonderful, but a portion of the proceeds of the sale of each candle sold will be donated to back to HGO for their Community and Learning education programs.
