David's World

I can’t tell you how often I get the question, “Is this appropriate for my wedding?” The answer, really, is simple and complicated. It depends on how many people you want to annoy and how much of a people pleaser you are. Maybe I’m simplifying things a little bit too much, but you have to think about what you want out of your wedding.
Wedding are usually the moment when you’re bringing your entire family together with your future in-laws, maybe for the first time, which brings the question, “Is your wedding even about you?”
This month marks two years since we launched Miles David and I couldn’t be more grateful for where we are. Are things perfect? Did we have smooth sailing all year? No, but I recognize that every day I get to do a job that I love to do. I get to interact with the most extraordinary people and I get to help support the causes that make me smile.
Giving back is at the heart of what we do at Miles David, and it made sense today to highlight some of the organizations that I love.

To show our love, we will donate 30% of our sales today to organizations that are making a difference.

I would love to know which organizations you support!  #GivingTuesday
I wasn’t living in New York when 9/11 happened. I was in Cleveland, in a college art class working on drawings that I hoped would help me get to design school in New York or Europe. During a class break, my mom called. It sounded like the world was ending. Our teacher returned and said that we should all probably go home.

One of my favorite things about my job is that I get to work with such a variety of different clients and see how they express themselves through their weddings. Michelle was recommended to us by a good friend and happens to be a talented interior designer. She was so excited about the process of making her dress a part of her wedding.

She came in thinking that she wanted to have a sweetheart, strapless top, but happened to spy one of our day dresses with a draped detail at the shoulder. "I want that!" she said, and we were off!

In which, David Peck takes you behind the scenes as we create gown for an exclusive Harry Winston Luncheon.

Diamonds may be a girl's best friend, but for everything else, there's Miles David.

There's never a dull moment around these parts. On Friday, I had the great pleasure of supporting my friend Cara of Craft Salon and Style Bar at Dancing with the Rise Stars. She wowed the crowd with her take on Cinema Italiano from Nine.

This event was especially meaningful because not only is The Rise School an incredible and inclusive place, but Cara's daughter Alice attends the school. Raising kids is hard enough, but it's places like Rise that make it just a little easier for parents of kids with special needs.

Cara came in a few weeks ago and asked if would be interested in making her a dancing dress for her number. I'm really not sure why people even ASK if I'm interested, because the answer is almost always YES. I'm sucker for a good challenge.

This year has got to be one for the books. In addition to some of the over-the-top wedding dresses that David Peck has done, he also got to go to Downton Abbey! Well, he didn't go to Downton Abbey, but his creation did!

David Peck goes behind the scenes with the nitty gritty details behind the creation of the dress that got to go to Downtown Abbey.

I recently got to work with an incredible bride. Shon came in with her wedding planner, Crystal from Jane Deux Events (if you haven't checked out their work, get at it). She brought with her inspirational images from a Jennifer Lopez photo shoot and some bridal gowns that she had seen in magazines.

Here at Miles David, we love showing you behind the scenes looks at how our clothes get made, what we do, and especially why we do it.

Sometimes, we get a little silly, but we're always serious when it comes to making our clients look and feel their very best.

Join us, won't you, as we create clothing for you, by us. #MadeforYou
