This week, I'm thrilled to have a mom who's become very special to us over the past year Inside the Design Studio. You're going to be seeing a whole lot more of her around the boutique (well, as soon as Corona lets us) because Carla is coming on board our team to help us with all things brides, mothers, and debs!
If you don't know Carla or have had the pleasure of working with her, she's one of the kindest souls. She's got the best energy and I couldn't be more excited to have her join us!
Carla knows our design process inside and out because not only did we do her gown for her son's wedding, but we were just about to do her final fitting for her daughter's wedding that was to be in April! Obviously, things didn't go quite according to plan due to the global situation, but we're excited to see her wear it this fall!
Once we are past the pandemic, and it's safe to have a party, we'll have a proper welcome in person, but for now, get to know Carla and see why we this she's so special and a welcome addition to the team!
Tell us about yourself!
I have always loved fashion and being on the forefront of new trends with clothes. From the latest work out gear to the best cocktail dress or evening gown. I love to help friends personal shop for every day or a special event. After staying home raising kids and volunteering in several programs, I took the plunge and went back to work part-time in bridal. I love brides, mothers of the brides and all things about weddings. It’s such a special season for families and it’s so exciting to assist mothers and daughters as they plan for their dream wedding! I’m excited to jump in this spring with David to see the brides and mothers of brides and grooms that we can help create the perfect gown for their events.
What are you looking forward to?
I’m excited about spending time at Lake Travis with my family for Mother’s Day. We will spend the day golfing and maybe some boating and a good grilled dinner with wine to round out the day!
Tell us what you've been up to during quarantine?
Some of the things that I have enjoyed the most about this pandemic time is being able to spend this much time with our grown children. Their our friends now and watching them navigate their careers from home has been fascinating. I feel like we’ve supported them with yummy meals and we’ve had great time to converse with them about their questions and concerns of this strange time we’re all experiencing. Who would think that we would be able to spend this much time with our oldest son and his darling bride that were married in January. Another huge blessing about this time we were given just slow down is that it’s springtime and the weather has been incredible. I have found a few other interest that I normally wouldn’t sit down and enjoy including water color painting, coloring my own hair and 1000 piece puzzles!
5 fast facts:
1. We love The Voice and all themini-series on TV! Ozark is also crazy!

I could write so many wonderful things, that “my sunshine, as I call her) would be too modest to say. Besides from being my prayer warrior for almost 30 yrs., Carla was the angel to bring scared mama, several precious, comfortable outfits, straight from the cleaners, to Children’s Hospital when my son was there for 3 weeks. This was many years ago, but, she knew, besides her prayers, that his was exactly what I needed.
ADORE Carla Russell…
Her friend forever,
