Ask David | The Perfect Picnic

Pick a peck of pickled peppers for your perfectly posh picnic..... Say that 10x fast!

As Memorial Day approaches, my mind turns to all things picnic-related. I'm sure many of you are still doing get-togethers outside, and quite frankly, a picnic never gets old. It won't matter your hosting level because we've got picnics covered from posh to nosh!

First, you need Paris.

An education | Cinemagraph, Paris guide, Education

Houston humidity in the summer (not to mention the mosquitoes) is totally a vibe killer.

If you don't have Paris, then London will do. 😉 Otherwise, I suggest a private jet to Aspen in the summer. 😜 It really is quite magical, and if Houston is all you have.... well, we know just the way to bring the magic to you!

Let's start with the bare necessities, those simple bare necessities...

1. Blanket.

Any blanket that you won't mind getting dirty and is large enough to fit a few people. We carry so many amazing table cloths that double as a picnic blanket. So, if you are not a ground sitter, you can always throw it over a picnic table to add a pop. CHECK OUR OUR HOME COLLECTION

2. Dinnerware.

Whether you choose to use store bought plastic ware or you want to be a little more extra and rent curated dinnerware from Your Butler's Pantryyou are bound to have a good time.

3. Pillows.

Bring them from home, buy them from Target or shop online at Shop The Manor for some comfortable pillows to complete your ground or bench set up.

4. Food.
You can't forget the nosh for your posh picnic. So many ways this can be done... one idea is to do a potluck where everyone brings one dish for the group. You can make it really simple and put together bag lunches with homemade sandwiches, bags of chips, pasta salad, and cookies. Last but not least, my favorite way to do it is to create or order a charcuterie board and desserts, then pick up lunch to go from one of your favorite spots. Voila! Check out our blog on the perfect charcuterie board.

5. Beverages.

Pack a small cooler with your favorite beverages. For kids I always recommend Honest Kids Juices or water and well, for the adults a little Rosé all day!

Additional accessories...

If you are not a big fan of sitting on the ground you can always bring fold out chairs or stools. Garden stools are always a fun extra as you can use it for food placement or seating.

Wear comfortable clothing and I always recommend bringing sunscreen and a hat if you plan to be outside in the middle of the day or in direct sunlight.
