David's World

Without a doubt, Disney World is the most magical place on earth. in fact that is their official slogan. What if I told you that under the Disney umbrella was something called the Vacationeer and a whole slew of travel agents that take your wildest dreams and bring them to life...would you believe me?

WELL...We are lucky to know one of these fairy godmothers and her name just so happens to be Nicole Stapleton!

Today's feature is one for the books! Lindsey Hohlt, also known as Houston Diamond Girl on social media, is not just Houston's most well-known jewelry designer, but she is also a friend. Believe it or not, Lindsey used to be one of my models years ago. Now she puts her modeling skills to use online for her own company LLJ by modeling her incredible designs.
Celina Villarreal founder of Margarita Mercantile has brought handmade Mexican embroidery to Houston with her amazing company Margarita Mercantile. giving jobs and purpose to the woman and small communities of Mexico. You can shop tops, dresses and skirts with unique handwork.

If you've been around here for any length of time, you know how much I love live theatre and especially Theatre Under the Stars. There have been so many hard things about the pandemic, but losing theatre hit my soul. There are so many talented artists that haven't been able to work because theatre's are dark.

One of those VERY talented people is Colleen Grady who heads TUTS's costume shop and designs so many of TUTS's shows! I've loved getting to know her and seeing her work over the years and thought you might like to know her as well! She's Canadian, so you know she's just lovely!

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love theatre and anyone who knows me knows how much I love TUTS (Theatre Under the Stars). It is Houston's home for musical theatre after all. I've loved serving on the Advisory Board and our company has been proud to support the education and programing at TUTS over the years.
Today's guest is one of the main reasons that TUTS has been so successful recently (you'll meet the other reason next week) and I couldn't be more thrilled to have Hillary Hart Inside the Design Studio today. Hillary is one of those rare minds that so fully understands the complexity of both the arts and business. I often walk away from board meeting feeling like I've learned something tangible that I can apply to my own business because of her insight and knowledge. She has a true gift for leadership and I've been thrilled to see how she has shepherded TUTS into another era.

If you are familiar at all with Houston Grand Opera, you probably know Scott Ipsen. I was fortunate enough to meet Scott when he was in charge of all the events at the Opera, and now he's Director of Patron Services, which basically means he's responsible for making loads of people happy.

Scott and his wife Larissa (who also happens to be one of our best clients, she wears our clothes so well!) make going to the opera a true joy. I'm so thankful to have them both in my life and call them friends. I can't wait for the day when we can all hang out again in person.

I know you'll enjoy getting to know Scott or even getting to know him a little better! And I can honestly say that his answers to my questions are so different than we're used to getting!

Can I tell you how much I love working with Melissa Sugulas? I probably can't because it's that much fun. As to when I met Melissa, I can't really place that either. She's one of those people that seems to have been in my life since coming to Houston and she's been a friend and client forever.

She's a terrific personal stylist to boot. Melissa gets what is the right or wrong thing to wear to all of the myriad events that we have in Houston (this assumes that there's no COVID situation happening). I've loved working with her clients over the years, creating staples that work in their wardrobe.

In another, pre-pandemic world, my time right now would be filled with the beginning bustle of the fall social season. We would be finalizing our plans to support local philanthropic events, and most likely dressing many of the chairs of Houston's Gala Scene.

Social season usually also means that I emerging from my version of hibernating/hiding from the dead of the summer heat and I get to see friends again. Amber Elliott is one of those people that I look forward to seeing in Houston's effort to squeeze as many social events into an evening as possible...

I couldn't be more thrilled to have my guest today Inside the Design Studio. An award-winning investigative journalist, producer, and author, Alison Flowers is one of those women you don't forget, and while we don't live in the same city or even state (she's based in Chicago), I'm so proud to call her a friend and that

I've been wanting to feature today's guest for EVER and I'm so glad that we were able to sit down with her for today's edition of Inside the Design Studio. Crystal helped orchestrate one of the most magical gowns that we've ever done (here's a whole post about it) and I still dream of having another moment like that (cue Kelly Clarkson).

We get a behind the scenes look at Houston based visual artist Emily Dingmann personal and professional life. The work illustrates the contrast between the urban concrete world and the meditation found within painting. We get a behind the scenes look at the Houston based artist!

Today's guest inside the design studio is an international florist, entrepreneur, and business mentor, who has created a life she loves by combining her passion for business and beautiful flowers. We met several years ago through Instagram, and I've loved learning more about her story and watching her pivot and grow her business.
