David's World

It's not just me that feels like it's been decades since there was a real red carpet to cover. All sense of time has been lost this year. With award shows being postponed and help (mostly) virtually, we seem to be stuck in fashion limbo.
While I've missed red carpets, I admit that they were getting rather stale over the last few years. Few stars were taking risks, and almost everyone always looked beautiful, even if what they were wearing wasn't your favorite. It's hard to argue that any star that hits the carpet these days looks terrible.
Have you ever considered the Pineapple? I mean really thought about it? Of course we see them everywhere (especially if you live in the South), but do you know why? I'll admit, I didn't know much about the fruit and why it became a ubiquitous symbol of hospitality.
To sleeve or not to sleeve, that is the real question!
Whether it be religion, culture, social status, or just plain fashion, sleeves can be functional and a great statement. Throughout centuries, sleeves have evolved in lengths, size, and fit. Various sleeve designs used over the centuries have faded in and out of fashion based on what's en vogue.

If you've been around here for any length of time, you know how much I love live theatre and especially Theatre Under the Stars. There have been so many hard things about the pandemic, but losing theatre hit my soul. There are so many talented artists that haven't been able to work because theatre's are dark.

One of those VERY talented people is Colleen Grady who heads TUTS's costume shop and designs so many of TUTS's shows! I've loved getting to know her and seeing her work over the years and thought you might like to know her as well! She's Canadian, so you know she's just lovely!

It's February and you know what that means... NO, not Valentine's Day, It's Black History Month. Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history. So, in celebration of black stories and history I am sharing some of my favorite books and movies that have embraced what black history is all about.
Today's post is a little different, and I hope it resonates with you. Valentine's Day can bring out all the feelings, including the not so great ones. The truth is that even if you happen to be in a loving relationship, you may struggle with the most challenging love of all, loving YOURSELF.
I have partnered with Susan G Komen as an honorary Pink Tie Guy to help raise money too ind a cure for breast cancer. Join us in the fight against breast cancer and to help make a difference. Donate to the cause by making breast cancer awareness to the forefront.
Cheers and welcome to Thirsty Thursday, the day after hump day and a necessary day to drink. In celebration of being so close to the weekend we are sharing a fun new cocktail that you are sure to enjoy. If you choose to forgo the other ingredients and just skip straight to a shot of liquor, we understand. We all have those crazy weeks and however you like your drinks whether that be stiff, dirty, shaken, stirred, sweet, or strong we just applaud you for making it this far. So without further ado, let's get to it!

Nothing to whine about here because we are talking about all things wine. With Valentine's this month, I figured "wine" not share some of my favorite red wines that I typically go to or have just recently tried.
Planning a party is like a piece of cake, up until the word "wedding" is thrown in there. The wedding gown is picked out, bridesmaids are sorted and the groom is good to go – but what about mom? Moms struggle with what they should wear, what's appropriate, and most of all, they are usually trying to coordinate with another mom (or more!). This can be all kinds of confusing. And STRESSFUL.
